Sara and Thom met during their freshman year at Ashland University. They were friends for many years and reconnected when Thom was moving back to the Cleveland area after Grad School. Their first date was at an Indians game and Sara wasn’t sure if it a friend hangout or a date, but after that night, they were inseparable. Thom works at Oberlin College and he and Sara often visited the Observatory on campus. One night they had a visit planned with dinner afterwards. Thom surprised Sara by dropping to one knee and proposing. Eric Mull, Sara’s ex-boss, was there to capture the moment. Sara and Thom loved the idea of getting married in Oberlin because of their connection to the place. Planning for their wedding, one of the most important things was to include their adorable rescue Beagle, Rush, in the wedding. They purchased cuffs and a bow tie for him to wear! We got a photo of him in them and then had to take them off because he wasn’t too pleased! The couples’ friend Phil served as their officiant. They had a lovely idea to plant a tree to commemorate their wedding, so as part of their ceremony, together, they watered the plant, showing how they can nurture and grow together. After the lovely ceremony, we did photos and then headed over to the Hotel at Oberlin for a delicious dinner. The room was gorgeous and filled with light. The couple cut the wedding cake from the gorgeous spread of cakes from the local bakery, Blue Rooster Bakehouse. Their guests could choose which cake they would like to sample. Dancing and festivities continued including cigars on the 2nd story balcony of the hotel.
