I first connected with Christina and Evelyn through Christina’s brother, Patrick. We had some friends (and Oberlin) in common and he recommended me. I met up with Christina and Evelyn and we did a super fun engagement session in Ohio City. They are such a sweet and fun couple and have that adorable couple quality where one partner is quiet while the other is more talkative. I was so honored that they wanted me to photograph their “blessing ceremony” and reception in Wooster, where they met and attended college. At the time of their planning, they were thinking they would have to go to California (where C is from) to actually get married because it wasn’t legal in Ohio. Then they would return to Ohio and have their married “blessed” in front of all their friends and family and then party. Well, we all got the welcome surprise when on June 26, 2015 the US Supreme Court made its landmark decision to strike down Ohio’s bans on same-sex marriage licenses and finally make same-sex marriage legal across the United States. This changed everything. They could now get legally MARRIED in Ohio.
Their wedding was on a gorgeous fall day. The ceremony was filled with emotion and we all got to be a part of the celebration of their union.
