Dee Dee & Kyle's Outdoor Wellington Wedding

Deanna contacted me about 5 weeks before her wedding. She comes from a very artistic family and was having a homespun wedding on her parents’ beautiful land in Wellington, Ohio. As with many DIY wedding couples, they are working so hard on so many of the details of their wedding that they suddenly realize how important it is to hire a professional to capture their wedding day and not take any chances. In my opinion (and of course I really love and value photography) it is the most important thing to spend your money on.
Luckily for me (because I love weddings like this), I was available for her Friday afternoon wedding, and luckily for Dee Dee and Kyle, my husband didn’t balk at me being out on the night before our vacation.
We came up with a custom package so they could have the coverage they needed within their budget and I could get home not too late to finish up with our packing!
A fun fact about Kyle and Dee Dee is that they grew up less than a mile from each other and probably rode the bus together to school, but didn’t really meet until much later.
Their wedding day arrived and it was unbelievably beautiful! Barely a cloud in the sky, warm but not humid – just glorious. And Dee Dee’s family land was breathtaking. They had chairs and potted plants set up around twin willow trees which would serve as the altar for their wedding. Then off to the side was a tent for the champagne toast.
Up at the house, everyone was busy with the details of getting ready. Kyle and his guys were upstairs getting dressed and Dee Dee and her ladies were downstairs. When all the guests had arrived and the bridal party was ready, the men walked down the hill to the ceremony site, followed by the women. Dee Dee and her father walked down the aisle to a classical guitar and violin duo.
The only glitch in the day was the fact that the sun had moved a bit and was fully shining on the bride. It was so bright that she could barely see Kyle standing right in front of her. It also made it difficult for me as the wedding photographer to get a good exposure with the bride (in white) in the full sun and the groom (thankfully in khaki) in the shade. (If you are considering an outdoor wedding, I highly recommend finding a spot that is fully in the shade at the time of day you will be getting married).
After the wedding, everyone was super hot because they had been sitting in the full sun as well. They all headed over to the tent to cool off and have some refreshments. There was a champagne toast and then some family photos. Afterwards, we all headed over to the Fraternal Order of the Eagles in Wellington for the reception.
